Depression in Pregnancy
JAMA published a study this week showing that pregnancy does not, as previously believed, protect women with histories of depression from relapse.
As it happens, I was one of the research subjects.* (What, you didn't know I was crazy?)
Reader Quiz: Was I one of the 68% of women who quit their meds and got depressed, the 26% of women who didn't quit their meds and still got depressed, or did I think being pregnant was peachy and have a grand old time of it, whether or not I popped meds?
Hint: Next time around, I'll be spending lots of time contemplating the word "teratogenic". Because. I. Can't. Go. Through. That. Again. Even reading the goddamn article abstract made me cry.
